About Me
Larry Gipson is passionate about following Jesus and leading others to follow him, too. He is constantly surprised by the bigness of God’s love and strives to find ways to welcome all people into a more loving relationship with God through Jesus Christ. His proudest moments are whenever he helps others share their faith through witness and service.
Since August 2017, Larry has served as Associate Pastor at Old South Union Church, a 300 year old congregation in the historic town of Weymouth, Massachusetts. In addition to regularly leading and preaching at the church’s traditional Sunday service, he co-founded and teaches at The Open Table, a Saturday evening gathering for adults in their 20s and 30s. He also helps oversee the church’s faith formation program throughout the lifespan, including traditional Bible studies, online devotional groups, Pre-K through 8th grade Sunday School, and the church’s 750 member Youth Group.
Larry grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and is a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ. Larry received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Yale University and his Masters of Divinity from Emory University, Candler School of Theology. He also served for 31 months as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine.
Outside of church, Larry enjoys lifting weights, drinking coffee, reading comic books, and watching superhero movies.
